"Midnight and the Black History Museum" brings alive the lives of famous African Americans including info on Benjamin Banneker's life, Harriet Tubman's biography on the Underground Railroad, Frederick Douglass and many more in this short play which is great for Black History Month presentations.

Synopsis:
When a time warp leaves friends Joel, Estaban, Ashley and Kadian trapped in the Black History Museum after hours, the paintings of Benjamin Banneker, Harriet Tubman, Dred Scott, Frederick Douglass, Abe Lincoln, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Thurgood Marshall come alive to help the students understand their stories and their significance in the evolution of the African American culture in this country. A chorus of children raps some of the information in a series of rap songs as the children learn about their ancestry.

Description:
This short play, ideal for a Black History month presentation, contains 4 traditional songs, features 8 strong male characters, 5 good female characters and several smaller supporting roles and a chorus which is expandable in size, depending on the number of students to be used. Good for upper elementary, middle and high school students. Can be intergenerational, as there are both adult and child roles. Production ideas for sets, costumes, etc. are included. The hard copy version is 8 1/2" x 11" in size with spiral binding (which lets it lie flat on a desk, when opened) and color cover.
