WORKSHOP, SEMINAR AND COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

TITLE: FOLKLORE AS A FRAMEWORK FOR MULTICULTURAL STUDIES

Utilizing principles, processes and techniques of the visual and performing arts, participants will learn how to take a myth, legend, fairy tale or folk tale from any culture and use it as a framework through which to comprehensively study that culture. In addition, the comparative study of more than one culture at a time will be addressed through drama, music, dance and visual arts. This seminar, based on NYC Language Arts Standards, is highly interactive, being approached by the instructor through all nine of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences.
