The Snow Queen fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen play script cover This beautiful blending of a narrated dance/ drama and a thrilling action story shows off Andersen's story at its best. Synopsis:
 While playing in the town square on his sled, Kai is kidnapped by the Snow Queen and taken to her ice palace north of the Arctic Circle where she keeps him prisoner by freezing his heart. His friend Gerta goes in search of him on a long and perilous adventure, meeting many strange and sometimes comical characters and learning many valuable lessons. Eventually the warmth of her heart thaws Kai's and he returns with her to their warmer homeland.

Description:
 This 55-minute one-act features an extensive narrator part, 5 strong male character roles and 10 strong women character roles with smaller supporting roles and an ensemble chorus which is expandable in size, depending on the number of students to be cast. Good for high school students, adults or a very well disciplined troupe of younger acting. Can be intergenerational, as there are both strong adult and child roles. Production ideas for sets, costumes, etc. and curriculum suggestions for a complete thematic curriculum are provided at the end of the script. The hard copy version is 8 1/2" x 11" in size with spiral binding (which lets it lie flat on a desk, when opened) and color cover.
